The Champion is smaller than the Colt Commander, but larger than the Colt
Officers model - an excellent choice for a canceled carry gun. The
rear sight is a low mount MMC white dot sight adjustable for elevation
only and the front is a Millett dual crimp with a white dot.
7. Colt Black Powder Restoration First Generation Colt Single Action Army in 41 caliber
which has been completely restored to original condition with the exception
of the hammer, which is a second generation. This fine old six shooter
had been converted to 45 Colt and had become rusted and pitted to the point
it needed extensive attention. The photo on the left shows this old colt
with all the pits, scratches and dings of over 100 years removed block
hand polished and ready for final Carbona Charcoal blue. The frame was
color case hardened, screws are heat blued and the rest of the metal is
Carbona Charcoal blued by the worlds finest firearms finisher and restoration
artist Doug Turnbull of Turnbull Restorations. Cost of this restoration
was $1,900.00.
8. Welded Browning High Power Extended Beavertail Extended, welded beavertail on a Browning High Power pistol.
Incases where the spur or commander hammer bites the bejabbers out of the
web of your hand the only solution is to weld on a beavertail and change
the hammer to either a commander or a Type II shown here and made by Bill
Laughridge of Cylinder & Slide Shop. The cost for this custom
work is $145.00 plus refinishing and about $85.00 for the hammer..

for the same customer as the Blackhawk above. It is 75% deep relief engraved
by Terry Theis complete with an eagle on the hammer. The polished
nickel finish has had the deep relief background "inked" to make the magnificent
engraving stand out. The grips are one piece elephant ivory with
a Helfricht style steer head carved in deep relief on the right grip fitted
and carved by Paul Persinger of El Paso, Texas.
I did the custom work and coordinated the work. Total cost for this

13. Engraved U. S. Property Remington Rand 45 This is a beautiful piece restored and brought up to date with a
Brown beavertail custom night sights modern hammer and ivory grips for
customer Matt Fields. The Nimschke style engraving was accomplished
by master engraver Tommy Kaye of Yoakum, Texas.
14. Custom Texas Longhorn This is a rare Texas Longhorn single action made like many shooters
believe a Colt Single Action Army should have been made for a right hand
shooter with the loading gate and extractor rod on the left. Like
many of we aging shooters the owner wanted a Doctor red dot scope mounted
so he could see the cottin' pickin' sights. The grip is an abbreviated
Bisley.
This finest example of pistolsmiths art was built for President George W. Bush in appreciation for his dedicated support of the firearms industry and the right of Americans to keep and bear arms. This extraordinary Model 1911 pistol with serial number "GWB 001" was built by ten members of the American Pistolsmiths Guild who called up the best of their talent to create a gold standard of pistolsmithing craftsmanship. This pistol will be presented to President Bush in early 2009 after he leaves office so it can be given to him as a personal gift. The artisans, and members of the prestigious American Pistolsmiths Guild, who contributed their great talent were Brian Powley - engraving, Roy Fishpaw - ivory grips, custom French fit walnut case - A&A engraving, Dave Lauck, Jack Weigand, Neil Keller of Custom Ballistics, Alex Hamilton of Ten-Ring Precision, Inc, Marc Morganti - Gemini Custom, Larry Vickers of Vickers Custom, and Alan Tillman - Art Enterprises. The custom steer hide holster was made by Matt Del Fatti of Del Fatti Leather. The special buckle is President Bush's favorite painting entitled
"A Charge To Keep" by W. H. D. Koerner who was a famous illustrator for
Harpers Weekly. This very special buckle was reproduced as an engravers
masterpiece by world famous firearms engraver Weldon
Lister or Boerne, Texas. The buckle will be produced in a
very limited number for the consumer market in bronze, silver, and gold.
16. Custom Two-tone Kimber This custom job was built for a competition shooter who wanted the
best of everything including low mount BoMar rear sight, ambidextrous thumb
safety, 25 lines per inch checkering, Kart match barrel, slide fitted to
the frame, Brown beavertail and much more. The finish is TR Gun Kote
black polymer finish on the slide and glass beaded stainless steel on the
lower unit. Cost to customize this customers pistol was around $1,400.
17. Engraved Three Screw Ruger Blackhawk This fine old three screw 44 magnum Ruger Blackhawk was a personal
project. I do so many fine guns for customers it is difficult to
see them go so I decided to build one for myself. The cylinder is
fitted with oversize base pin, the bolsters at the rear of the frame are
sculpted and the bottom, front of the frame is "pinched" giving it a special
custom look. I made the six inch tapered octagon barrel from a piece
of Shilen match grade bar stock. The grips are custom made
from elephant ivory made by the master grip maker Roy
Fishpaw of Lynchburg, Virginia. The exquisite engraving with gold
inlay was masterfully completed by Tommy Kaye of
Yoakum, Texas. Take special note of the eagle head engraved
on the hammer. I hand polished all metal to 800 grit finish and sent
the parts for Carbona, Charcoal blue and color case hardening to the finest
finisher in the world, Doug Turnbull of Turnbull
Restorations in New York. As a final touch I heat colored
the screws to a dark blue color. Total cost of this project was about
$5,000 in mostly labor.
18. STI Socom 45 The frame and slide of this custom pistol made for Matt Fields has
just about everything done to it Matt could dream up. I is fully
tricked out with Kart match barrel, low mount
Richard Heinie night sights, ambidextrous thumb safety, large magazine
well, and light rail for a Surefire combat light. This is about as
good as it gets with the final price of this gun somewhere around $2,400.
19. Custom Smith And Wesson 629 Terry Theis of Harper, Texas cut the
50% engraving on the nice Smith 629 after I did a complete action job which
included recutting the crown and forcing cone, correcting end-float, numbering,
beveling and polishing the cylinders, reducing the single and double action
trigger pull, and glass beading the stainless steel for a nice soft matte
finish. The action job was $125.00 and the 50% engraving ran around
$600.
